Every Monday and Wednesday night, I train Capoeira for anywhere from 3 to 4 hours. There's two classes, the intermediate and the advanced. The Intermediate class is always doable, but the advanced class can get crazy.

Every Monday and Wednesday night at 7:30PM, the intermediate class ends and I have to get up my nerve to stay for the next class. It's fucking hard. I get scared. I make up excuses in my head for why it's ok to leave. Up to the moment the class actually starts I'm never sure I'm actually going to stay, but I do.

Push through and see what's on the other side.

It probably seems like I'm still obsessed with Capoeira when you read this Journal, but honestly it's a relatively small part of my like now. Basically it goes like this:

• My Family Obviously. Ange and Bella are why I can consistently get up in the morning.


• My Friends Some of whom are like family. And some of whom are in Capoeira too.


• My Career This is how I make things happen for my family. If I don't put time into my career, how can I put that little munchkin through college?


• Interests Of which Capoeira is only one of a multitude.

As far as Capoeira goes, I'm pretty much in a place where I put enough time into it to make it worthwhile, and that's about it. I have no illusions of becoming a Proffesor or a Mestre one day. It's something that's in my life, not something that is my life.

I'm letting go of all the shit that's happened in my past with Capo. I'm dropping my cynical attitude; it just takes up time and energy from enjoying myself.

So my capoeira group had a Troca de Cordao this weekend. I played for my second cord, a braided green and yellow affair that really sets off my eyes. The second Mestre I played tried to take my head off, and I know why and I'm cool with what happened. But I know he was in the wrong and it made me realize something about the Capoeira I play and why I like it.

So I slept in today, because I've been sick. I decided it would be best to work from home, so as not to get anyone else sick. I phoned in to the morning meeting, same old same old. But nobody has gotten back to me all day. I've been sending emails, IM, phone, nothing. How about a little professionalism people? When I went to the daycare to pick up Bella, the ladys who were working there were babling something or other in Spanish. They handed Bella off to me and rushed out. WFT?

I've been watching videos instead of working. I wish I had TV to watch...

I'm so fucking sick right now. Horrible painful sore throat and body pains all over. Why do I keep getting sick? I'm in reasonably good shape, I eat well, I sleep enough, etc. One theory is that it's the world's cutest disease vector that keeps bringing me presents. I guess that's the price we pay for putting her in daycare.

Or rather most of it. Ish called me and told me he was going to be late, and could I please start it for him. I taught about an hour worth of capoeira, including the warmup and some basic drills. I think it went ... well. I had some trouble directing traffic. It turns out that if you have people do drills in a line, they won't automatically get out of the way of the other people coming down the line when they're done. Who knew?

I work 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Actually, it's more like 8:30am to 7pm, but you get the picture.

If you need to contact me for non-emergency reasons, please use IM or email or wait until after work hours. If you call, I feel like I have to pick up just in case it's something really important. When it's not, I rush off the phone and I'm sure that doesn't make you guys feel good.

I've decided that I must, before I am 30, go to Japan with Taliesin. It doesn't make sense that I've never been, and I need to do something about that.

I'm making an entry in celebration of the fact that my good friend Jenn has signed up for LJ. Basically for the same reason that I'm using it, to see what's going on in my friends fragile minds. I basically stopped posting after the incident where I called a friend's [now ex-]wife a total bitch. She just flew off the handle, mostly because I was right. Anyways, talking about personal stuff on your LJ is a stupid, stupid thing to do.

So I've come to the conclusion that as far as the whole Jimmy/Eileen/Brian/Tania/OtakuBooty/Chinese Mafia/Hitler drama goes, I would much rather be happy than right. I said and did things on my end that were unnecessary and mean, and I apologize for that.

So, I've come to the difficult realization that DR is never going to move to Cali. He's got a lot going on over there in the D, and it probably doesn't make much sense for him to abandon it all to start over in LA. It makes me very sad though, cause he's not going to be around to see my kid(s) grow up.

I went through a period of time when I was in Detroit when I lost touch with all my friends in LA. Now that I'm back here and I've reconnected with all my old friends (well, a lot of them) plus my new buddies from OB. I'm trying hard not to lose touch with the friends I made in Detroit.

Tommorow is Capoeira Batuque's batizado. I'm going to receive a green cordao. HAHAHAHAHA!

That Eileen is such a huge bitch, she was supposed to take me and Ange out for KBBQ to make up for that cruel joke she played on me. But instead she got drunk with all her hooker friends and never called us, cause she's a hooker. I hate her.
